Role overview

Human Resources Manager (People Operations) for a mission-driven organization. This is a fully remote role based in the United States, focused on improving HR operations, employee experience, compliance, and internal policies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily HR operations and support employees and managers
  • Act as the primary HR point of contact for guidance and information
  • Advise leadership on employee relations and sensitive personnel matters
  • Conduct employee consultations and help resolve workplace concerns with empathy
  • Manage employee relations processes (e.g., action plans and follow-up)
  • Oversee communications related to compensation, benefits, policies, and updates
  • Process HR and compliance workflows, including:
    • employment verifications
    • accommodation requests
    • paid family leave requests
    • unemployment claims
    • withholding orders
    • workers’ compensation claims
  • Maintain accurate employee records and confidential HR documentation
  • Review and update HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance
  • Partner with departments to implement HR processes effectively
  • Manage employee evaluation and performance management initiatives
  • Provide HR administrative support during high-volume periods
  • Track HR data (e.g., demographics and communication trends) and recommend improvements
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for leadership on HR priorities and trends

Requirements

  • Strong HR operations experience and demonstrated people operations/employee relations background
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to handle confidential matters
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Interpersonal skills to support employees through complex situations with empathy
  • Experience training, managing, or supporting teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Experience implementing policies/procedures and driving adoption
  • Process-oriented mindset for improving and optimizing HR systems
  • Strong problem-solving and ownership mindset
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations
  • Experience supporting teams across functions and working with stakeholders

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with equity-focused workplace practices and inclusive approaches
  • Experience in high-pressure campaign, advocacy, or field-based environments
