About the role
Role Overview
Transdev in Burnsville, MN is seeking a Field Human Resources Manager to support the management team across full-cycle recruiting, employee relations, policy administration, and compliance. The role acts as a strategic HR partner, fostering positive labor relations while ensuring adherence to company policies and legal requirements—within a safety- and customer-service-focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Partner with operational management to align HR initiatives with business objectives
- Administer and monitor compliance with company policies, procedures, and labor agreements
- Support HR needs related to HIPAA/PHI, employee engagement, hiring, and maintaining a safe/respectful workplace
- Maintain and update employee handbooks, recognition programs, and HR documentation
- Develop proactive employee relations strategies for both union and non-union staff
- Advise branch managers on employee relations, disciplinary actions, labor law compliance, and dispute resolution
- Stay current on HR trends, practices, and employment legislation
- Oversee payroll-related functions to ensure accurate and timely processing (including accounts payable and fare collections)
- Manage employment processes including pension administration, union dues, unemployment claims, workers’ compensation, and leave requests
Requirements
- 3+ years of relevant experience managing HR and labor relations (preferably transportation or unionized environment)
- Strong knowledge of recruitment, onboarding, employee benefits, and compensation management
- Experience with employee file administration and HRIS systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop employee relations strategies
- Familiarity with employment laws, OSHA, and labor regulations
- Subject to DOT regulations, willingness/ability to pass drug testing and physical examinations
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)
