About the role
Role Overview
The Human Resources Manager directs HR activities for a facility to ensure compliance with state, local, and federal requirements and adherence to Crown policies and procedures. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will serve as a strategic partner to plant leadership in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a strategic partner alongside plant management.
- Liaise between plant floor management and the Plant Manager for all HR aspects.
- Partner with the Corporate Human Resources team.
- Participate in the plant’s EHS Committee, WCP Committee, and Quality Teams.
- Provide hands-on employee relations support across all shifts.
- Coordinate employee communications and meetings.
- Manage employee relations matters including:
- resolving conflicts
- implementing disciplinary procedures
- developing and rolling out improvement plans
- investigating and addressing harassment claims
- implementing required employee actions
- Document investigations and maintain proper plant records.
- Lead performance management, including appraisal processes and corrective action programs.
- Lead talent acquisition for salaried and hourly roles (sourcing, screening, interviewing, selection, background/reference checks).
- Administer the site Affirmative Action Plan and maintain the hiring log.
- Oversee orientation/onboarding.
- Drive organizational development including active management of the site’s Succession Plan.
- Evaluate training needs and, with Corporate HR, develop and roll out training topics.
- Coordinate medical coverage and support insurance questions with Corporate Insurance.
- Coordinate leaves including FMLA and Workers’ Comp.
- Administer HRIS tasks (payroll-related issues, employee data input, attendance support, and related duties).
- Maintain employee files and records.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources/Business or related field.
- 5+ years in an HR management role.
- 5+ years in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations.
- Ability to work evenings/weekends occasionally to support shifts.
- ~10% overnight travel (occasionally).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience/knowledge related to aluminum metal packaging (text cut off, but clearly indicated as preferred).
