About the role

Role Overview

The Human Resources Manager directs HR activities for a facility to ensure compliance with state, local, and federal requirements and adherence to Crown policies and procedures. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will serve as a strategic partner to plant leadership in a high-speed manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a strategic partner alongside plant management.
  • Liaise between plant floor management and the Plant Manager for all HR aspects.
  • Partner with the Corporate Human Resources team.
  • Participate in the plant’s EHS Committee, WCP Committee, and Quality Teams.
  • Provide hands-on employee relations support across all shifts.
  • Coordinate employee communications and meetings.
  • Manage employee relations matters including:
    • resolving conflicts
    • implementing disciplinary procedures
    • developing and rolling out improvement plans
    • investigating and addressing harassment claims
    • implementing required employee actions
  • Document investigations and maintain proper plant records.
  • Lead performance management, including appraisal processes and corrective action programs.
  • Lead talent acquisition for salaried and hourly roles (sourcing, screening, interviewing, selection, background/reference checks).
  • Administer the site Affirmative Action Plan and maintain the hiring log.
  • Oversee orientation/onboarding.
  • Drive organizational development including active management of the site’s Succession Plan.
  • Evaluate training needs and, with Corporate HR, develop and roll out training topics.
  • Coordinate medical coverage and support insurance questions with Corporate Insurance.
  • Coordinate leaves including FMLA and Workers’ Comp.
  • Administer HRIS tasks (payroll-related issues, employee data input, attendance support, and related duties).
  • Maintain employee files and records.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources/Business or related field.
  • 5+ years in an HR management role.
  • 5+ years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work evenings/weekends occasionally to support shifts.
  • ~10% overnight travel (occasionally).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience/knowledge related to aluminum metal packaging (text cut off, but clearly indicated as preferred).
