HUD - Data / Platform Engineer

Role Overview

Join cFocus Software Incorporated as a Data / Platform Engineer supporting a program for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This is a remote position requiring a Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data platforms for SOC operations (log aggregation, analytics, security data pipelines).
• Engineer and optimize data ingestion pipelines for security telemetry (SIEM, EDR, cloud logs, network logs).
• Build scalable data architectures in AWS GovCloud and hybrid environments.
• Support both real-time and batch data processing for security monitoring and analytics.
• Integrate data from multiple sources (cloud services, applications, endpoints, network devices, third-party platforms).
• Ensure data quality, integrity, availability, and performance across platforms.
• Implement centralized data lake / data warehouse solutions for security analytics.
• Support SIEM/SOAR via data normalization, enrichment, and correlation.
• Develop dashboards, reporting, and visualization for real-time security posture monitoring.
• Automate workflows and platform operations using scripting and orchestration.
• Support compliance requirements (data retention, logging, auditability).
• Collaborate with SOC analysts and engineers to enable threat detection and response.
• Optimize for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability for pipelines and platforms.
• Maintain documentation for architecture, pipelines, and integrations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• 7+ years experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or cloud engineering.
• Experience with data pipeline tools such as Kafka, Kinesis, Logstash, Fluentd.
• Experience with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk) and log aggregation systems.
• Public Trust clearance required.

Nice-to-Haves (Implied by Duties)

• Strong experience with security telemetry ingestion and SIEM/SOAR enablement.
• Experience in AWS GovCloud and hybrid data architectures.
