HUD - Cloud Security Engineer

Role Overview

Cloud Security Engineer supporting a HUD (Housing and Urban Development) program at cFocus Software Incorporated. This position is remote and requires a Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain cloud security controls across AWS GovCloud and integrated cloud platforms
• Validate cloud security architecture and ensure alignment with Zero Trust principles and federal mandates
• Implement and operate cloud-native security tooling (e.g., AWS Shield, GuardDuty, logging) and third-party security tools (SIEM, SOAR, EDR)
• Perform continuous monitoring of cloud, network, and endpoint environments for real-time threat detection and response
• Support SOC activities: incident detection, response, and mitigation
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and manage remediation, including tracking CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEVs)
• Build log aggregation/analysis and security event monitoring using SIEM (e.g., Splunk)
• Support threat detection, threat hunting, and integration of threat intelligence feeds
• Perform cloud security posture fit/gap analyses and recommend improvements
• Configure and maintain IAM, privileged access management, and authentication systems
• Support data protection strategies (e.g., encryption, DLP, secure data handling)
• Implement and maintain security automation/orchestration for incident response (SOAR)
• Support audit readiness, compliance reporting, and adherence to NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, and RMF
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and SOC analysts; maintain documentation of security configurations and procedures

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• 3+ years of experience in cloud security engineering or cybersecurity engineering
• Hands-on AWS experience (preferably GovCloud) and cloud security services
• Strong understanding of federal cybersecurity frameworks: NIST SP 800-53, RMF, FISMA
• Ability to obtain/maintain Public Trust clearance

Nice-to-Haves / Preferred

• Prefer AWS GovCloud experience
• Experience integrating SIEM/SOAR/EDR and working with SOC processes and audit/compliance reporting
