About the role

Role overview

AlphaSense is hiring a Head of Engineering Productivity & Experience (Director-level) to lead developer experience and engineering productivity across a global ~400-engineer organization. You will shape a unified platform ecosystem spanning AI-driven development, developer tooling, web infrastructure, and QA automation, with a focus on high-confidence releases and a seamless CI/CD experience.

Responsibilities

Define and drive the strategy for a unified platform ecosystem bridging:
- AI-driven development
- Developer tooling
- Web infrastructure
- QA automation
Lead the evolution of how software is built, tested, and delivered to improve developer experience (DevEx) and engineering productivity.
Build and scale AI-enabled tooling and workflows that measurably improve productivity and experience.
Improve CI/CD developer experience to enable faster, higher-confidence delivery.
Drive test automation and quality engineering practices at scale.
Operate in a distributed environment, leading through influence and collaboration across multiple engineering orgs.

Requirements

Technically sharp leadership comfortable with architectural reviews and getting close to code when needed to unblock teams.
Director-level leadership experience; strong Senior Engineering Managers scaling DevEx or platform organizations are also welcome.
Experience in large, distributed engineering organizations.
Proven ability improving engineering metrics such as delivery velocity, cycle time, and CSAT.
Demonstrated experience building and mentoring high-performing engineering teams.
Experience building or scaling internal developer platforms.
Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and modern engineering workflows.
Experience with progressive delivery.

Nice-to-haves

Experience implementing AI-assisted development tooling.
Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and Kubernetes-based platforms.
Familiarity with modern frontend architectures and microfrontend delivery models.

Location / time zone

Full remote, with EST or UK timezone preferred for overlap with direct team members.
