About the role
Role Overview
Head of Engineering at Lemon.io. You will own engineering end-to-end and lead a transformation from a services-driven marketplace to a technology-driven platform. This is a hands-on, product-involved leadership role—working directly with the founder and product team.
What You’ll Do
- Own the technical roadmap and ensure engineering work maps to business impact (no feature-for-feature work).
- Lead and grow an engineering team to ship fast and iterate constantly.
- Treat complexity as a cost; make engineering decisions that maximize leverage.
- Tackle hard, multi-layer problems such as:
- Automated vetting
- Intelligent matching at scale
- Demand-side bottlenecks
- Make hard prioritization calls: decide what to build, skip, and kill.
- Partner with the founder and product team to define success metrics before writing code.
- Build engineering culture focused on:
- High ownership
- High speed
- Low bureaucracy
Requirements
- Proven experience leading engineering teams (5–30+ people) in a startup or high-growth environment.
- Hands-on experience with modern engineering stacks.
- Comfort working with AI/ML tooling.
- Experience in a distributed, async-first team.

- Product-minded, business-first mindset with strong ability to simplify.
- Strong first-principles thinking and bias toward action.

- USA timezones or European timezones.
