Head of DevOps

Role Overview

Head of DevOps to lead 1inch’s infrastructure and platform engineering function. The mission is to evolve operations toward AI-driven, progressively autonomous operations while improving reliability, scalability, security, and developer experience.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the DevOps and platform engineering strategy, aligning the platform roadmap with company and engineering priorities.
• Lead, mentor, and grow the team (hiring, performance management, career development, succession planning).
• Establish ownership, engineering standards, operational processes, and governance; foster a culture of accountability, automation, reliability, security, and continuous improvement.
• Own and operate cloud-native infrastructure, including:
  • Kubernetes environments
  • networking, storage, and shared platform services
  • improving scalability, resilience, standardization, and operational simplicity
• Apply infrastructure-as-code and policy-as-code, automation-first and controlled-change principles.
• Oversee capacity planning, cost optimization, technology selection, and strategic vendor relationships.
• Embed Cursor AI and agentic automation across the platform lifecycle:
  • provisioning, CI/CD, release engineering
  • observability, troubleshooting, capacity planning, cost optimization
• Build controlled self-healing capabilities:
  • detect anomalies, identify likely causes
  • execute approved remediation
  • verify recovery and learn from outcomes
• Ensure automation runs with defined permissions, approval requirements, audit trails, rollback mechanisms, and security policies.
• Provide self-service infrastructure and paved paths:
  • reusable tooling, deployment capabilities, and AI-assisted workflows
  • measure agent safety/accuracy, cost, auditability, remediation success, and reduction of manual toil
• Define and enforce reliability/observability/security standards:
  • SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, resilience testing
  • incident management and access controls
  • secrets, encryption, vulnerability management
  • software supply-chain security
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Security, Compliance, and IT to set platform guardrails, risk controls, audit evidence, ownership boundaries, and represent platform performance and risks in executive discussions.

Requirements

• 10+ years experience in DevOps, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, or SRE.
• Strong production experience with:
  • cloud infrastructure
  • Kubernetes
  • infrastructure-as-code
  • distributed systems and high-availability environments
• 5+ years experience leading a platform or DevOps team.

Nice-to-haves (implied)

• Experience implementing self-healing / automated incident remediation with strong safety controls.
• Experience with observability platforms, reliability engineering practices, and security/compliance guardrails.
