The Head of Design, Development & Construction will own the end-to-end process of launching new compounding pharmacy sites nationally. You will lead site selection through feasibility, budgeting, design/contractor selection, construction build-out, and regulatory readiness to licensure and go-live.

Reporting to the Director of Pharmacy Development & Operations, this role bridges pharmacy operations expertise with construction, facilities engineering, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

Acquisition & site development

  • Lead market analysis and site selection for pharmacy locations nationwide.
  • Perform feasibility assessments and due diligence (regulatory feasibility, build-out complexity, operational suitability).
  • Develop and execute entitlement strategy for new locations with legal and operations.
  • Serve as liaison between landlords/brokers and the company to support lease and acquisition efforts.
  • Coordinate internal stakeholders to provide required information to landlords/brokers.

Entitlements & compliance coordination

  • Navigate land use and zoning requirements.
  • Lead master plan coordination and manage environmental compliance obligations.
  • Oversee community outreach and represent the company at public hearings as needed.
  • Coordinate regulatory submissions and interface with Boards of Pharmacy, DEA, FDA, and local authorities for inspections and approvals.
  • Develop and maintain a facility compliance playbook for new site designs and modifications.

Design & build leadership

  • Lead concept and programming strategy for new facilities, translating operational workflows into compliant physical environments.
  • Own the selection of design teams/contractors and overall project management through build-out.
  • Ensure design and construction support GxP/cGMP requirements for 503B outsourcing facilities.

AI-first working style

  • Start with LLMs to clarify intent/context, draft and research problems, and accelerate execution.
  • Apply judgment to refine quality and validate outputs.
  • Test and iterate with real users and stakeholders.
  • Share AI-native workflows by documenting prompts, processes, and repeatable approaches.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience designing and building commercial spaces and pharmacy environments.
  • Experience with 503A compounding pharmacies and FDA-registered 503B outsourcing facilities.
  • Thorough knowledge to navigate state and federal regulations needed for pharmacy facility approval.
  • Ability to manage cross-functional stakeholders (legal, operations, landlords/brokers, regulators).
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Care for performance, accessibility, and reliability as part of craft.
  • People-oriented mindset: empathetic, self-aware, low-ego, and positive; comfortable in a small, collaborative team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Comfort pairing with designers, engineers, and marketers.
  • Demonstrated ability to take on projects that may be new or unclear initially.
