About the role
Role overview
The Head of Design, Development & Construction owns the end-to-end launch process for new compounding pharmacies across the U.S., from concept to licensure and go-live. This role combines pharmacy development expertise with construction/facilities engineering and regulatory compliance. The position is AI-first, using LLMs and AI-native workflows as part of daily work.
What you’ll do
- AI-first execution: Use LLMs to clarify intent, draft/research, and accelerate decisions; apply judgment to ensure quality.
- Validate and iterate: Test outputs with real users and stakeholders and refine based on feedback.
- Share AI-native workflows: Document prompts/processes/workflows and share them to raise team standards.
Key responsibilities
Acquisition / site selection
- Lead market analysis and national site selection.
- Perform feasibility assessments and due diligence (regulatory feasibility, build-out complexity, operational fit).
- Develop and execute entitlement strategy with legal and operations.
- Liaise with landlords and brokers to support lease and site acquisition.
**Entitlements / compliance
- Navigate zoning and land-use requirements.
- Lead master plan coordination and manage environmental compliance obligations.
- Coordinate community outreach and represent the company at public hearings.
- Coordinate regulatory submissions and interface with state Boards of Pharmacy, DEA, FDA, and local authorities for inspections and approvals.
- Create and maintain a facility compliance playbook for new designs and modifications.
Design / development / construction
- (From the role intent) Own the concept-to-build-out process, including design team and contractor selection and project management for pharmacy facility build-outs.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience designing and building commercial spaces and pharmacy environments.
- Deep knowledge of state and federal regulations for pharmacy facility approval.
- Experience relevant to 503A compounding pharmacies and FDA-registered 503B outsourcing facilities operating under cGMP.
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and comfort partnering with designers, engineers, and marketers.
- People-first collaboration style: empathetic, self-aware, low ego, highly positive; able to wear many hats in a small team.
- Craft focus on performance, accessibility, and reliability.

- Remote with travel required.
