Role Overview

Group Product Manager, Compliance Automation at Coinbase’s Product Foundations team. You will lead the product vision and multi-year strategy for AI/ML-powered systems that automate Coinbase’s regulatory obligations, helping reduce cost and regulatory risk while enabling global growth.

Responsibilities

Own the product vision and multi-year roadmap for Compliance Automation, including:
- Sanctions screening
- Transaction monitoring
- Suspicious activity detection
- Risk-based compliance workflows
Lead a team of PMs to define, prioritize, and deliver AI/ML capabilities that:
- Reduce manual compliance effort
- Increase detection accuracy
- Scale compliance operations across jurisdictions
Drive cost optimization by identifying and executing automation opportunities in a major operational cost center without increasing regulatory risk
Partner with Compliance, Legal, Trust & Risk, Engineering, and Data Science to ensure automation systems meet regulatory requirements and support product velocity
Shape adoption of emerging AI/ML technologies to improve detection quality, reduce false positives, and accelerate case resolution
Maintain relationships with regulatory and compliance stakeholders, translating evolving requirements into actionable product capabilities

Requirements

10+ years of product management experience, including significant experience in AI/ML-powered automation, compliance technology, or operational automation at scale
Experience leading large, complex cross-functional programs with multiple workstreams; managing managers or leading PM teams
Ability to partner with ML engineers on agentic AI architectures and translate technical capabilities into compliance product strategy
Proven track record with regulatory compliance frameworks, including:
- Sanctions
- Transaction monitoring
- AML/BSA and navigating compliance approval processes
Demonstrated ability to drive executive-level alignment and communicate investment tradeoffs clearly to senior leadership (VP+/exec)
Responsible use of generative AI, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality

Compensation & Logistics

Coinbase is remote-first, not remote-only; expect quarterly in-person sessions called “surges.”
Annual base salary range (excluding equity/bonus): $243,865–$286,900 USD
Total compensation may include equity and bonus; benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)
