About the role

Role Overview

Google Cloud Platform Engineer supporting the U.S. Air Force Cloud One Architecture and Common Shared Services contract. This is a hands-on, technical DevSecOps/cloud engineering role requiring the ability to architect, code, deploy, debug, and troubleshoot in Google cloud environments.

Responsibilities

Design scalable, resilient, and secure cloud-native solutions for Google Cloud
Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and their impact on organizational goals
Drive DevOps/DevSecOps adoption, including infrastructure as code and automation
Optimize application performance and reliability in cloud environments
Design security architectures using Zero Trust and defense-in-depth
Ensure compliance with standards such as SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and applicable regulatory requirements
Implement identity and access management (IAM) and security monitoring frameworks
Facilitate customer onboarding and create a consistent cloud adoption pathway
Assess legacy systems and define modernization strategies (e.g., containerization, microservices)
Develop and execute migration methodologies with minimal disruption
Manage and optimize cloud environments including networking, VPNs, IaaS, PaaS, and SQL systems
Implement and maintain tools supporting DevSecOps practices: Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, Jira, Confluence, Artifactory, Guacamole
Containerize applications to improve scalability and deployment efficiency
Support design and development of Shared Services
Configure and troubleshoot cloud, virtual, and physical systems
Establish and maintain SQL and NoSQL databases; ensure performance and reliability
Produce technical documentation for development and operations
Conduct security assessments and remediate vulnerabilities
Collaborate with development, operations, security, and product management teams
Create cloud reference architectures, patterns, and standards

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of experience (or additional experience in lieu of degree)
Active Secret clearance
U.S. citizenship required
Cloud certifications required: CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent, IAT-2)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience onboarding customer log data from cloud platforms to on-prem/cloud analysis environments (e.g., Elastic or Splunk)
Cloud architecture and design experience

Preferred Skills

Experience with USAF Cloud One / Platform 1
Experience with Zero Trust Architecture
Customer-facing experience and strong customer service skills
Strong understanding of Active Directory, Azure AD, SAML and associated processes
Experience with Ansible, AWS, Elastic, Git, Bitbucket, and cloud SaaS administration (e.g., MS O365, SharePoint, Azure AD)
Windows Server administration experience
Cloud certifications in Google Cloud
