About the role

Role Overview

Contract (part-time) Golang Developer for a remote position supporting backend API development and AI model evaluation. You’ll build scalable services and participate in structured “testing bursts” to assess how AI-powered models perform in real coding workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize REST and GraphQL endpoints for scalable APIs
  • Implement strong data validation, error handling, and API security practices
  • Plan and execute database migrations, performance tuning, and schema changes
  • Test new AI-powered models in Cursor and report findings using:
    • incident reports
    • bug traces
    • screenshots
  • Participate in 4-day intensive testing bursts exploring AI model impact on coding workflows
  • Collaborate with the research team in a dedicated Slack channel
  • Submit post-burst surveys with insights on model performance and developer experience

Requirements

  • Professional backend development experience with strong Go (Golang) expertise
  • Proficiency building and maintaining RESTful and GraphQL APIs
  • Advanced understanding of backend data validation, error handling, and API security
  • Hands-on experience with database migrations, performance tuning, and schema design
  • Experience using AI coding tools; Cursor familiarity is highly desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including clear incident/bug reporting
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, confidential, collaborative remote environment
  • Visible open-source contributions (e.g., GitHub contributions/stars)
  • Experience designing or evaluating experimental tooling and developer workflows

Nice-to-Haves

  • Prior experience contributing to or evaluating experimental developer tooling
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for AI advancements in software development
