Go/Golang Developer - Remote

Role Overview

Contractor software engineering role (10–12 hours/week, Remote). You will help train and evaluate next-generation AI systems by completing practical software engineering tasks. The work emphasizes reasoning through unfamiliar codebases, clearly explaining engineering decisions, and evaluating code quality, architecture, and tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Work on backend, full-stack, systems, and infrastructure-related engineering tasks.
• Review, debug, improve, and explain code across different technical environments.
• Design or evaluate solutions involving:
  • APIs, databases, services, and integrations
  • Testing approaches and deployment workflows
• Assess tradeoffs across scalability, maintainability, performance, reliability, security, and developer experience.
• Communicate technical reasoning clearly in writing (how/why a solution works and alternatives considered).
• Collaborate with the customer’s team on technical reviews, implementation decisions, and problem-solving exercises.
• Adapt quickly to new codebases, frameworks, and technical requirements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Strong experience in at least one backend or full-stack environment (including Go/Golang).
• Experience building, maintaining, or reviewing production-level applications, APIs, services, databases, or integrations.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals (debugging, testing, code quality, architecture, tradeoffs).
• Ability to explain complex engineering decisions clearly and objectively.
• Comfortable reading and reasoning through unfamiliar code/requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Cloud experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• CI/CD and DevOps workflows; containers; monitoring; production operations.
• Frontend framework experience (React, Next.js, Angular, Vue, React Native).
• Open-source contributions or strong public engineering work (e.g., GitHub), plus technical writing.
• Experience mentoring engineers, reviewing code, or making architecture decisions.
