Go/Golang Developer - Remote

Role Overview

Contractor software engineering role (10–12 hours/week, remote) to support next-generation AI system training and evaluation through practical engineering tasks. You’ll tackle backend, full-stack, systems, and infrastructure-style problems, with a strong emphasis on code reasoning and clear technical communication.

Responsibilities

• Work on challenging engineering tasks across backend, full-stack, infrastructure, and systems projects.
• Review, debug, and improve code; explain what you changed and why.
• Design or evaluate solutions involving APIs, databases, services, integrations, testing, and deployment workflows.
• Assess and discuss tradeoffs for scalability, maintainability, performance, reliability, security, and developer experience.
• Communicate engineering reasoning clearly in writing (including why the solution works and alternatives considered).
• Collaborate with a customer team on technical reviews and implementation decisions.
• Adapt quickly to new codebases, frameworks, and technical requirements.

Required Skills / Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Strong experience in at least one backend/full-stack environment (examples listed): Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Java, C#, .NET, C++, Go, Ruby, PHP.
• Experience building, maintaining, or reviewing production-level applications, including APIs, services, databases, and integrations.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: debugging, testing, code quality, architecture, and technical tradeoffs.
• Ability to clearly and objectively explain complex engineering decisions.
• Comfortable reading and reasoning through unfamiliar codebases/requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Cloud experience: AWS, GCP, Azure.
• CI/CD, DevOps workflows, containers, monitoring, or production operations.
• Frontend experience: React, Next.js, Angular, Vue, React Native.
• Open-source contributions / strong public GitHub / technical writing.
• Experience mentoring, reviewing code, or making architecture decisions.
