Go/Golang Developer - Remote

Role Overview

Contract software engineering role (10–12 hours/week, remote) helping train and evaluate next-generation AI systems through real-world software engineering tasks. No prior AI experience is required; what matters most is strong engineering judgment and clear technical communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Work on challenging tasks across backend, full-stack, infrastructure, and systems projects.
• Review, debug, improve, and explain code across different technical environments.
• Design or evaluate practical solutions involving:
  • APIs, databases, services, integrations
  • Testing and deployment workflows
• Identify and discuss tradeoffs across:
  • Scalability, maintainability, performance, reliability, security, and developer experience
• Communicate technical reasoning clearly in writing (why it works and alternatives considered).
• Collaborate with the customer’s team on technical reviews and implementation decisions.
• Adapt quickly to new codebases, frameworks, and requirements.

Required Skills / Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Strong experience in at least one backend/full-stack environment (examples given include Go/Golang, Node.js, Java, .NET/C#, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, etc.).
• Experience building, maintaining, or reviewing production-level applications, APIs, services, databases, and integrations.
• Strong fundamentals: debugging, testing, code quality, architecture, and technical tradeoffs.
• Ability to explain complex engineering decisions clearly and objectively.
• Ability to read and reason through unfamiliar code/requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Cloud experience: AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• CI/CD and DevOps workflows; containers; monitoring; production operations.
• Frontend experience with React/Next.js/Angular/Vue or React Native.
• Open-source contributions, strong public GitHub work, or technical writing.
• Experience mentoring, reviewing code, or driving architecture decisions.
