Global Design Leader, Polyphonic AI Lab

Role Overview

Global Design Leader for Polyphonic AI Lab within Johnson & Johnson MedTech’s Polyphonic team. You will define and lead the human-centered UX/UI for a next-generation surgical data & AI platform that manages the end-to-end lifecycle of multimodal surgical data and supports ML/AI development, deployment, and scaling in regulated healthcare environments.

Remote (North America): open to candidates in all cities/states within North America.

Responsibilities

• Lead user and market research to uncover user needs, validate opportunities, and translate insights into product ideas.
• Create a cohesive, scalable user experience vision and roadmap in collaboration with product management and engineering.
• Lead a team of strategists and product designers from research and ideation through prototyping and production-ready delivery.
• Define design principles and interaction patterns for emerging multimodal UX and AI-assisted workflows.
• Integrate with and evolve the design system (components, patterns, guidelines) tailored for AI/ML tooling and scalable across the platform.
• Partner with engineers, data scientists, clinicians, and external technology providers to drive expansion of a scalable product/service ecosystem.
• Build cross-functional networks to align on design priorities and accelerate learning and change management.
• Ensure solutions emphasize quality, cybersecurity, privacy, compliance, and responsible AI.
• Stay current on trends across AI, multimodal data platforms, computer vision, digital surgery, and sensor-enabled intelligence.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (required); Master’s degree preferred in Design or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in product design and design management, delivering platform solutions (ideally in healthcare, digital health, and/or AI-enabled products).
• Strong design craft and demonstrated leadership (role excerpt ends mid-sentence).
