Global Design Leader, Polyphonic AI Lab

Role overview

Global Design Leader for Polyphonic AI Lab in Johnson & Johnson MedTech’s Polyphonic team. You will lead human-centered experience and interface design for a next-generation surgical data & AI platform that manages end-to-end multimodal surgical data and enables ML/AI development, deployment, and scaling in regulated healthcare environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead user and market research to uncover needs, validate opportunities, and translate insights into product ideas.
• Create a cohesive, scalable UX vision and roadmap in close collaboration with Product Management and Engineering.
• Lead a team of strategists and product designers from research through ideation, prototyping, and production-ready designs across releases.
• Define design principles and interaction patterns for emerging multimodal and AI-assisted workflow paradigms.
• Integrate with and enhance the design system (components, patterns, guidelines) tailored to AI/ML tooling.
• Build strong cross-functional networks with engineers, data scientists, clinicians, and external technology providers to align on priorities and accelerate adoption.
• Ensure solutions emphasize quality, cybersecurity, privacy, compliance, and responsible AI.
• Stay current on trends in AI, multimodal data platforms, computer vision, digital surgery, and sensor-enabled intelligence.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (required) or Master’s degree (preferred) in Design or a design-related field.
• 10+ years of experience in product design and design management delivering platform solutions (ideally in healthcare, digital health, and/or AI-enabled product environments).
• Strong design craft and proven leadership experience (details truncated in provided text).
