Role Overview

As General Counsel at Virta Health, you will oversee the company’s legal affairs, partner with executive leadership and the Board, and help prepare Virta for its next stage of growth and scale.

Key Missions / Responsibilities

Oversee all legal affairs across the company and ensure legal readiness for scaling.
Partner with executive leadership and the Board on legal, regulatory, governance, and business matters.
Lead and develop the Legal team, building a high-performing function with clear priorities and strong operating rhythms.
Serve as a strategic advisor to leadership and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable growth.

Requirements

Builder mentality with strong legal judgment plus commercial instincts and operational pragmatism.
Experience operating in a high-growth, venture-backed technology or healthcare company.
Strong exposure to IPO readiness and public company disciplines.
Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and the Board with strong executive presence.
JD required; strong academic credentials preferred.
Evidence-based approach prioritizing data and science.
Ability to operate effectively in fast-moving, ambiguous environments and take risks while iterating.
Combination of strategic thinking and hands-on execution when needed.

Nice-to-haves

Healthcare industry experience, including familiarity with healthcare regulatory environments.
Understanding of how emerging AI technologies can transform legal operations (e.g., contracting, compliance, enterprise risk management) and ability to leverage them responsibly.
Proven track record architecting durable AI systems with measurable efficiency gains.
General Counsel/senior legal leadership experience at a company with $200M+ revenue and meaningful operational complexity.
Experience supporting IPO as the #1/#2 legal leader and/or operating within a public company legal environment.
Familiarity with healthcare and company values (transparency, ownership, iteration, positive impact).

Location / Work Setup

Remote-first with flexible work hours.
Must be based in or willing to spend meaningful time in the SF Bay Area or Denver.
