About the role

Role Overview

Fullstack Senior Software Engineer (React / Next.js / Azure) for a fully remote team. You will design, build, and maintain scalable APIs and high-quality web applications, partnering with product and design to deliver production-ready SaaS software on Azure.

Responsibilities

Build and integrate frontend applications with backend services and databases, including SQL and Snowflake, to deliver data-driven features
Design and maintain scalable APIs and cloud-native services on Azure
Champion CI/CD, automated testing, and trunk-based development for reliable releases
Lead and contribute to technical design discussions, code reviews, and engineering standards
Identify opportunities to improve performance, scalability, and reliability across the platform
Mentor engineers and help build a strong learning culture
Ensure strong accountability for code quality, security, and outcomes (including using AI-assisted development tools where appropriate)

Success Metrics (Onboarding Timeline)

30 days: Build familiarity with SMG’s platform, workflows, architecture, and Azure deployment while contributing to active team work
60 days: Deliver meaningful stack improvements and participate confidently in technical design discussions, strengthening testing and release quality
90 days: Own fullstack work end-to-end and drive visible improvements in performance, reliability, and engineering effectiveness

Requirements

5+ years building modern web applications
Strong experience with JavaScript or TypeScript, React, and Next.js
Solid understanding of system design: APIs, caching, event-driven patterns, and client-server architecture
Experience building and scaling applications in Azure
Strong SQL and database design experience
Ability to clearly explain technical decisions, tradeoffs, and implementation choices
Comfortable working in a distributed environment with clear communication and ownership

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Snowflake in data-driven application environments
Experience improving observability, performance, and reliability in cloud-based SaaS applications
Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to engineering standards
