About the role

Role Overview

Smile BI Devs is hiring a Full-Stack WordPress Developer (m/f/d) with DevOps skills. You will build and optimize high-performing websites—both visually and technically—while owning performance from code through server configuration.

Responsibilities

Website Development: Develop, maintain, and enhance websites using WordPress (and also TYPO3 and other CMS platforms).
Frontend Coding: Write clean, efficient, well-documented HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
DevOps / Server & Domain Management: Configure and manage servers, domains, security, backups, and disaster recovery; ensure optimal website performance.
Team Collaboration: Work with designers, content creators, and other developers to deliver high-quality, visually appealing websites.
Performance Monitoring: Monitor traffic and performance and tune systems to improve UX and reliability.
Technical Support: Troubleshoot and resolve website functionality issues.
Continuous Improvement: Stay current with web development and DevOps trends; improve speed, scalability, and user experience.

Requirements

Must-haves

Proven experience as a Web Developer with a strong portfolio of WordPress-based websites.
Deep knowledge of WordPress core, themes, and plugin development/customization.
Proficient in PHP and MySQL, including database design, querying, and optimization.
Strong HTML, CSS, JavaScript skills.
Experience with RESTful API development/integration/troubleshooting in WordPress environments (e.g., WP REST API).
Ability to design modular, reusable backend components/services.
Security best practices (input validation, authentication, access control).
Solid server management knowledge: Apache/Nginx, DNS, SSL, domain configuration, and general DevOps practices.
Experience with Git.
Strong problem-solving, communication skills, attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

Experience with modern JS frameworks/libraries like React or Vue.
Familiarity with Node.js or other backend runtimes.
Experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
Cloud experience: AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.
Knowledge of SEO best practices.
Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT or related field.
