About the role
Role overview
Workday is hiring a Full Stack Software Engineer (Senior Software Engineer) for Agent Factory to help build user-facing and platform experiences for AI agents. You will design and ship full-stack solutions, collaborate with machine learning engineers and product managers, and own features end-to-end from development through production.
Responsibilities
- Conceive and deliver full stack solutions spanning intuitive front-end experiences and resilient back-end services.
- Partner with machine learning engineers, product managers, and platform teams to build end-to-end features.
- Build and deliver full-stack functionality that powers AI agents integrated into HR and finance workflows.
- Apply software engineering best practices across development, testing, deployment, and operations.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- Relational databases: 2+ years (with PostgreSQL preferred).
- Web development frameworks: 2+ years (Python preferred: Flask, Django, or FastAPI).
- Front-end/full-stack experience: 2+ years with React and TypeScript.
- Experience building and operating SaaS products in cloud environments (preferably AWS).
- Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of best practices: DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, observability.
- Familiarity with agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor).
- Strong communication and collaboration with technical and non-technical partners.
- Proven success in fast-paced, agile, cross-functional environments.
- Familiarity with distributed systems tradeoffs and architecture.
- Exposure to Elasticsearch.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience building agentic products.
- Exposure to additional languages (e.g., Java on backend).
- Experience with agentic design patterns and knowing when to use agents vs. code.
