Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain, and improve front-end and back-end applications using modern engineering practices.

  • Collaborate across the full SDLC with product, design, and engineering stakeholders.
  • Make and communicate architectural decisions that improve scalability, maintainability, and long-term performance.
  • Improve engineering efficiency using AI-assisted development tools.
  • Drive reliability, performance, and operational excellence through thoughtful system design and continuous optimization.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, technical discussions, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
  • Support an Agile development environment focused on adaptability and teamwork.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience building and maintaining scalable applications.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and/or Ruby, with experience in modern MVC frameworks and backend architectures.
  • Solid understanding of RESTful services, database design, data modeling, and query optimization.
  • Experience using software design patterns and understanding architectural trade-offs.
  • Familiarity with Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) and software quality best practices.
  • Strong front-end knowledge, including CSS and responsive UI development.
  • Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and ability to break down complex problems into actionable solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including technical documentation and cross-functional collaboration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with technologies such as Ruby on Rails, Django, Hotwire, Turbo, Stimulus, Tailwind CSS, Next.js, Gatsby, mobile development, cloud platforms, automated testing, or microservices.

Work environment

  • Fully remote (remote-first) and collaborative, in a fast-moving environment.
