About the role
Role Overview
Join Affirm as a Full Stack Software Engineer on the Card Acquisition team. You’ll implement product features, participate in technical discussions, and deepen your expertise across backend systems and modern front-end technologies.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the quality and speed of full-stack development across mobile, web, and backend systems.
- Implement features and collaborate with your team on technical discussions.
- Partner with team members and stakeholders to build visibility and maintain dialogue on risks and trade-offs.
- Work comfortably in a large codebase, including debugging and improving code through code reviews.
- Turn business scenarios into solutions spanning multiple software components using clear, testable, extensible code.
Requirements
- Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale (work or internship).
- Proficiency with one of: Python or Kotlin.
- Strong knowledge of a modern front-end stack, including JavaScript/TypeScript and React (or React Native), plus common tooling such as Webpack and CSS.
- Comfortable debugging others’ code and providing constructive feedback via code reviews.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) for effective collaboration with a global engineering team.
- Ownership mindset: proactive feedback seeking and continuous growth.
Nice to Have / Familiarity
- Understanding of distributed systems and experience with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
