Full Stack Ruby on Rails Software Engineer (Senior - Remote)

Role Overview

Brightline is seeking a Senior Full Stack Ruby on Rails Software Engineer (Remote) to scale its core platform, build robust internal/external integrations, and evolve data flows for clinical and billing infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate end-to-end on projects with emphasis on backend systems, API design, and integrations
• Scope features with product and design and ship finished features to production
• Write code across the stack (backend primarily Ruby + Rails, frontend using Turbo/Tailwind)
• Balance independent execution with pairing time as needed
• Improve and maintain code quality via architecture discussions, automated testing, and code reviews
• Bring new perspectives to help the team grow (including beyond-code problem solving)

Requirements

• Passion for improving behavioral health for children, teens, and families
• Strong cross-functional collaboration (product, marketing, clinical, etc.)
• Own projects and see them through, including communication and execution
• Thoughtful, empathetic collaboration and decision-making
• Professional experience building software, primarily Ruby + Rails (or similar such as Python + Django)
• Enjoy full-stack work, with preference for backend logic, data modeling, and system architecture

Nice to Have / Bonus

• Healthcare experience, particularly around:
  • Insurance billing and health system integrations
  • Clinical workflows, referrals, coaching
• API development and third-party integrations

Compensation & Benefits (Highlights)

• Annual base salary range: $149,000–$175,000
