Full-Stack Engineering Lead

Role Overview

Rare Days is hiring a Full-Stack Engineering Lead to provide technical leadership across backend systems and contribute to frontend work as needed. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys building scalable systems, collaborating with product/design/client teams, and steering technical direction.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Development

• Oversee day-to-day engineering work, keeping the team unblocked and aligned on priorities
• Architect scalable backend systems using Go and Python (and optionally Kotlin)
• Contribute to frontend work using React and TypeScript when needed
• Drive decisions on performance, scalability, and system design
• Write clean, maintainable production code and uphold engineering best practices
• Lead technical documentation, sprint planning, and ongoing delivery

Collaboration & Client Engagement

• Partner with product managers and designers to define and scope solutions
• Lead client-facing conversations on technical strategy and progress
• Present work during demos, milestone check-ins, and roadmap reviews
• Balance business needs with technical feasibility in planning sessions

Team Mentorship & Culture

• Provide regular feedback and guidance to engineers
• Help with hiring, onboarding, and leveling processes
• Strengthen an inclusive engineering culture focused on transparency and accountability
• Identify improvements to tools, processes, and technical standards

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional engineering experience
• English proficiency
• Strong backend architecture and performance optimization experience with Go and Python (required)
• Backend experience with APIs, databases (SQL/NoSQL), cloud services (AWS, GCP), and distributed systems
• Strong frontend knowledge of React, Next.js, and TypeScript
• Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences
• Comfortable leading technical discussions and presentations
• Able to evaluate business/technical trade-offs and drive robust scalable solutions
• Comfortable working through uncertainty and clarifying complex scope/domains
• People-focused mindset and motivation to help teammates succeed

Nice-to-Haves / Bonus Skills

• Experience building creator platforms, media tools, or community-driven products
• Familiarity with GraphQL, gRPC, and/or microservice infrastructure
• Interest in developer experience, automation, or DevOps tooling

Location / Work Model

• Fully remote team based in Canada
• Open to candidates able to work within 4 hours of PST
