Full Stack Engineer

Role overview

You’ll be a Full Stack Engineer at Thought Machine, building end-to-end features across backend services and frontend web experiences for banking clients. The work focuses on scalable, secure, high-performance systems and configurable user experiences tailored to client and end-user personas.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement end-to-end features across the stack (web apps and backend services)
• Deliver solutions with security, performance, scale, and UX in mind
• Write automated tests (e.g., unit, integration, acceptance)
• Bridge backend and frontend, creating coherent, client-delighting experiences
• Translate customer requirements into engineering plans and task breakdowns
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (backend, frontend, and full-stack)
• Interface with other engineering teams to add features in a structured way
• Manage and debug features from test environments through production

Requirements (Essential)

• Strong experience with React and TypeScript
• Proficiency building modern web applications
• Experience building REST APIs and services
• Detail-oriented mindset and commitment to clean, readable, properly tested code
• Experience integrating automated tests into the development lifecycle
• Interest in client-facing work (scoping requirements, defining deliverables)
• Proactive approach to learning and development

Nice to have (Desirable)

• Knowledge of banking/finance
• Experience with AWS or other cloud providers
• Proficiency in Golang or Python
• Understanding of UX/UI principles
