Full Stack Engineer (Remote)

Role Overview

Full Stack Engineer (Remote) joining Fair, an AI-powered vehicle protection company. You will design, build, and operate core backend services and a hardened external-facing B2B API platform.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship core backend services for pricing, payment-adjacent workflows, accounting, reconciliation, and partner integrations
• Harden a B2B API platform, including:
  • REST and GraphQL
  • Idempotency, versioning, webhook signing, and replay
  • Sandbox/production separation, rate limiting, and abuse protection
• Own API contract design with:
  • OpenAPI and code generation
  • Code-first GraphQL schemas and reliable error contracts
• Improve observability with instrumentation, alerts, dashboards, and runbooks
• Raise quality via test coverage and CI gates before release
• Handle sensitive data with security, privacy, SOC 2, access controls, and audit logging
• Improve team execution through better scoping, clearer estimates, and cleaner release processes

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years building and operating production backend services
• Strong Node.js and TypeScript for APIs and backend business logic
• Experience designing/maintaining external APIs with backward compatibility and reliable documentation
• Strong API fundamentals: API keys, OAuth, idempotency, pagination, rate limiting, webhooks, event delivery
• Solid relational database fundamentals with MySQL or PostgreSQL
• Experience improving quality with testing and CI
• Ability to break work into shippable pieces, write clear technical tickets, and estimate realistically

Preferred Qualifications

• Fintech, payments, or insurtech experience
• Building public B2B APIs with high expectations for versioning, docs, and SDKs
• Security/compliance experience (e.g., SOC 2, audit logging, secrets management, least-privilege design)
