About the role
Role Overview
Mutual of Omaha is hiring a Full Stack Engineer to design, build, and support modern digital experiences. You’ll work across frontend and backend to deliver scalable, reliable, user-friendly applications, and you’ll have the opportunity to help lead a new UX/CX development team.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and support full stack applications using modern frontend and backend technologies
- Build responsive, accessible user interfaces using React (or similar modern JavaScript frameworks)
- Develop scalable API services, including REST APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot (and related tools)
- Integrate with enterprise systems, data platforms, and event-driven architectures using Kafka, MuleSoft, and cloud services
- Collaborate with product owners, architects, analysts, designers, and engineers to translate business needs into technical solutions
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, technical design discussions, code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD delivery
- Troubleshoot production issues and improve reliability, performance, maintainability, and security
- Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve delivery speed and code quality
Requirements
- 7+ years of full-stack application development (or equivalent production software experience)
- Strong frontend experience with React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and modern UI practices
- Strong backend experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, MuleSoft, and integration patterns
- Cloud experience, preferably AWS (deployment, monitoring, operational support)
- Experience with GitHub, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and secure software delivery
- Ability to analyze complex problems and make sound technical decisions balancing quality, speed, scalability, and maintainability
- Collaborative communication and willingness to mentor/support teammates

- Interest in and openness to AI-assisted development tools for modernization and productivity improvements
