Full Stack Engineer

Role Overview

Senior Full-Stack Engineer (Permanent), remote. Own and drive backend services, APIs, and platform architecture for an IoT-powered retail media network scaling to tens of thousands of locations. Contribute to frontend as needed.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services and APIs using Python and Django.
• Design scalable solutions for high-volume, public-facing systems, including:
  • Multi-database routing
  • Async processing pipelines
  • Near-real-time control for a large device fleet
• Translate product requirements (PRD) into technical designs and implementation task breakdowns.
• Use AI-assisted development workflows (e.g., Claude Code) to move from plan to implementation.
• Develop and maintain integrations with third-party advertising and display platforms (audio/display targeting).
• Partner with product to define roadmap priorities, surface risks early, and communicate technical decisions clearly.
• Contribute to the frontend in React and TypeScript as required.
• Operate autonomously: generate your own tickets, own work end to end, and support onboarding and platform expansion.

Requirements (Minimum)

• 7+ years full-stack engineering experience; backend-leaning but truly full-stack.
• Production experience with Django and Django REST Framework building large, public-facing APIs at scale.
• Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of complete features/systems with technical leadership and autonomous decision-making.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows and ability to direct/verify AI output.
• Strong engineering judgment: decompose ambiguous requirements, reason about failure modes, and right-size solutions.
• Startup/high-growth experience with limited process and multiple responsibilities.
• Experience with distributed, multicultural teams across time zones.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in retail media, ad-tech, or digital out-of-home advertising.
• Experience with IoT and distributed fleet management.
• Familiarity with AWS and async/queue-based processing architectures.
• Exposure to Elixir or other polyglot languages.
