Full Stack Engineer

Role Overview

Full Stack Software Engineer at DISCUS Software Company (Valstone Portfolio). You will translate evolving requirements into scalable, maintainable software across desktop (Windows) and cloud-native platforms supporting aerospace compliance systems.

Responsibilities

Full Stack Development

• Design, develop, and maintain desktop and web applications.
• Architect and build cloud-based services on Azure and AWS.
• Develop and maintain microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
• Implement RESTful APIs, API gateways, task queues, and event-driven systems.
• Apply SOLID principles and established design patterns for maintainable, extensible code.
• Collaborate in an Agile environment with product and engineering stakeholders.

Quality and Code Standards

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across distributed systems.
• Write clean, well-structured, well-documented code.
• Contribute to rigorous code reviews with emphasis on quality, testability, and long-term maintainability.

DevOps and Infrastructure

• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Ensure secure handling of sensitive data following industry best practices.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software development.
• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, including OOP and SOLID.
• Experience with distributed systems and event-driven architecture.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design and microservices architecture.
• Hands-on Azure and/or AWS experience.
• CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
• Database proficiency with both relational and non-relational databases (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Frontend experience with AngularJS, JavaFX, or comparable; familiarity with Git, Maven, Node.js, HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

• Additional design patterns (e.g., Factory, Strategy, Observer, CQRS).
• Agile experience with tools like Jira.
• Experience mentoring other engineers.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Windsurf, Claude Code) and improving/validating AI-generated code.
• Manufacturing/quality engineering experience, including FAI, AS9102, and inspection/compliance workflows.
• Experience with quality processes (inspection planning, nonconformance tracking) and integrating engineering data (CAD, BOMs) into QA systems.

Location / Work Model

• Remote across the USA or hybrid based in Beavercreek, Ohio.
