About the role

Role Overview

As a Full Stack Developer at Cutsforth, you will architect, build, test, and maintain scalable web applications and APIs across the full stack. The role combines product innovation with engineering excellence and includes research and development to explore and evolve the platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable web applications and APIs (end-to-end: database schema to UI)
  • Create AI applications where appropriate to enhance business outcomes
  • Lead architectural decisions and participate in code reviews with a focus on maintainability, security, and performance
  • Drive R&D efforts: evaluate emerging technologies, build proof-of-concept prototypes, and share findings with the engineering roadmap
  • Collaborate with product and design teams during sprint planning and discovery sessions
  • Optimize performance and address bottlenecks across front-end and back-end systems
  • Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure reliability
  • Contribute to technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and R&D reporting
  • Mentor junior developers via pair programming, code reviews, and knowledge sharing
  • Stay current with industry trends and recommend tooling/process improvements
  • Participate in on-call rotation and support incident response

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years professional full stack development experience
  • 2+ years participating in or leading R&D projects (prototyping and technical evaluation)
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum and CI/CD pipelines
  • Front end: JavaScript/TypeScript with modern frameworks (React, Vue, or Angular)
  • Back end: Node.js, Python, Java, or Go
  • Databases: PostgreSQL/MySQL and MongoDB/Redis
  • Cloud/DevOps: AWS/GCP/Azure, Docker, Kubernetes
  • APIs: RESTful API design; familiarity with GraphQL
  • Version control: expert proficiency with Git
  • Security: application security best practices (OWASP, authentication, encryption)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer, Google Professional Cloud Developer)
  • Experience publishing/presenting R&D (whitepapers, conference talks, technical blog posts)
  • Background with machine learning integrations, data pipelines, or AI-assisted tooling
  • Experience in a tech startup / fast-paced product engineering environment
  • Contributions to open-source or public technical communities
  • Experience with WebSockets, real-time systems, or event-driven architecture
  • Familiarity with serverless and microservices patterns
  • Knowledge of performance engineering
