About the role
Role overview
As a Frontend Software Engineer (Purchasing Integrations) at Affirm, you’ll build and maintain the JavaScript SDK and frontend infrastructure used at checkout. You’ll help ensure the SDK integrates smoothly with diverse merchant stacks while protecting user experience and performance.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and development of Affirm’s JavaScript SDK and checkout frontend infrastructure.
- Improve bundle optimization and script loading strategies.
- Drive rendering performance improvements and optimize for Web Vitals.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and Analytics to support the product development cycle, including ideation and technical constraint tradeoffs.
- Ensure SDK performance and UX remain strong across varied merchant implementations.
Requirements
- 1.5+ years of software engineering experience.
- Ownership mindset: proactively seek feedback from your team, manager, and stakeholders.
- Ability to turn business problems into solutions spanning multiple software components.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) for collaboration with a global team.
- Comfortable working in a large codebase, debugging others’ code, and contributing via code reviews.
- Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Experience shipping web apps using declarative UI frameworks such as React or Vue.
- Experience designing, developing, and launching APIs at scale (e.g., using Python or Kotlin).
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
