Frontend Software Development Engineer

Role Overview

You will be a Frontend-focused Staff Software Engineer on a modernization team. The goal is to transform legacy CVS pharmacy systems into a modern, cloud-native platform hosted on Google Cloud (GCP), while delivering high-performance, user-friendly web experiences for patient and drug domains.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop advanced web applications using React, JavaScript, and TypeScript
• Establish and enforce frontend best practices focused on performance and maintainability
• Lead implementation of frontend security measures to reduce vulnerabilities
• Design and implement testing strategies and evaluate testing frameworks for code quality
• Collaborate with DevOps to streamline CI/CD for seamless integration and deployment
• Guide adoption and integration of JxBrowser (hybrid web application development)
• Provide technical leadership/mentorship to frontend engineering team members
• Work with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, user-centric solutions
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and application performance

Qualifications

• 7+ years of frontend development experience with React, JavaScript, and TypeScript
• Proven ability to drive frontend best practices in large-scale environments
• 3+ years designing/implementing testing frameworks and strategies (e.g., Jest, Cypress, Playwright)
• 3+ years with CI/CD pipelines and workflows
• Strong understanding of frontend security (e.g., XSS prevention, secure cookies, CORS)
• Experience with hybrid web applications using JxBrowser (or similar)
• Deep knowledge of accessibility standards and responsive design
• Understanding of microservice architectures and distributed systems
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

• Ability to work hybrid from Woonsocket, RI or Hartford, CT; remote may be considered for qualified candidates outside close proximity.
