About the role

Frontend Platform Engineer

Join Defense Unicorns as a Frontend Platform Engineer (full remote). You will design and implement scalable UI solutions, own end-to-end feature delivery, and ensure the usability of a compliance and workflow application for DoD mission environments.

Key missions

Design and implement scalable UI solutions and own end-to-end feature delivery
Collaborate with UX/UI designers, product managers, software engineers, end users, and external stakeholders
Architect and design an interface that meets user needs
Write and maintain unit and integration tests to support UI reliability
Stay current with modern front-end best practices and industry trends

Requirements

Production experience building UI components with JavaScript/TypeScript and Svelte
Experience using Tailwind CSS
Ability to analyze complex problems, propose innovative solutions, and implement effectively
Strong communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
Experience with debugging across the stack, including familiarity with Golang backend services and APIs
Experience shipping code via CI/CD and automated pipelines
3+ years working on full-stack product teams (crossing front end, back end, and design)

Nice-to-haves

Flowbite
Familiarity with DoD security/accreditation processes (e.g., ATO, IL2–IL5)
Exposure to Kubernetes (deploying/troubleshooting/operating apps in K8s)
Familiarity with UI/UX design principles, tools, and systems such as Figma and Carbon Design System
