About the role
Role Overview
Frontend Lead (Product Engineering) at FINN. This is a high-ownership, hands-on leadership role where you lead the frontend team (currently ~3, scaling to 5+), partner closely with product and design, and directly shape the product experience.
You’ll work remote with a requirement for timezone overlap with the Eastern Hemisphere.
Responsibilities
- Own the frontend experience end-to-end across web and mobile (Angular + Ionic), from problem shaping through production.
- Drive complex user-facing features: analyze the problem, design an approach, ship quickly, and iterate based on real usage.
- Set and evolve technical direction: architecture, patterns, tooling, and developer experience.
- Partner with product and design to define solutions (not just execute specs).
- Write a lot of code (leadership second, engineering first).
- Mentor engineers and build a culture focused on quality, speed, and ownership.
- Work in a small, pragmatic team that ships frequently and learns from production.
AI in the Workflow
- Use LLMs daily for coding, debugging, automated code reviews, and design doc reviews.
- Help the team improve with AI as a force multiplier, including building internal tooling.
Requirements
- Proven track record shipping complex user-facing products (web + mobile ideally).
- Strong product instincts and willingness to push back when user needs aren’t met.
- Deep TypeScript fundamentals (component architecture, state management, performance).
- Experience mentoring engineers and setting team standards.
- Comfort with ambiguity: turn rough problems into shipped solutions.
- Pragmatic judgment balancing architecture vs. shipping and learning.
Nice-to-haves / Additional Context
- Familiarity with Angular + Ionic (stack is Angular + Ionic; React/Vue engineers ramp quickly).
- Comfort operating with minimal process and autonomy on the “how.”
