About the role
Role Overview
Join the Signup & Activation team within Growth Engineering as a Frontend Software Engineer II. You will build and optimize frontend experiences that drive user acquisition and activation, reducing friction and improving first impressions across Scribd’s brands.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize frontend components to improve acquisition/activation funnels
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, data analysts, and backend engineers to ship scalable, accessible, user-centric features
- Build responsive, accessible, high-quality web experiences aligned with business goals
- Participate in experimentation-driven development, including A/B testing and personalization
- Maintain and improve shared UI libraries, component systems, and frontend standards
- Ensure code quality via testing, code reviews, and best practices
- Communicate progress and challenges clearly in remote teams
- Use AI tools to streamline development, debugging, and problem-solving
- Contribute to continuous improvement of frontend architecture and performance
Requirements
- 4+ years shipping customer-facing frontend applications
- Strong TypeScript and JavaScript proficiency, with React experience
- Experience with modern JS frameworks, preferably Next.js
- Familiarity with Ruby on Rails and its ecosystem
- Solid frontend fundamentals: state management, component architecture, accessibility, testing, and UI quality
- Experience integrating with REST and GraphQL APIs
- Knowledge of experimentation, A/B testing, and personalization systems
- Ability to craft interactive, UX-polished experiences
- Strong written and verbal communication, especially in remote environments
- Experience with shared codebases, monorepos, or design systems
- Comfort using AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, Cursor)

- Deep experience with design systems and shared component libraries
- Comfort working across monorepos and shared architecture to support multiple brands
