Frontend Engineer -React

Role Overview

Join Braintrust/Netrolynx AI as a Senior Front-End Engineer (React) to build sophisticated, client-facing interactive data experiences for institutional users. You’ll help transform complex datasets into intuitive, elegant, highly engaging interfaces—blending engineering, design, and data storytelling.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-quality, interactive data experiences for sophisticated end users
• Build custom data visualizations using D3.js with modern front-end frameworks (React/Svelte)
• Create rich interactions using SVG, Canvas, and WebGL for advanced visual effects
• Translate complex datasets into narratives and exploratory interfaces that support understanding and discovery
• Collaborate with product, design, and data teams to deliver polished, production-ready visualizations
• Optimize for performance, responsiveness, and accessibility
• Help evolve front-end architecture and establish visualization development best practices

Requirements

• 5–10 years of professional front-end engineering experience (flexible for exceptional candidates)
• Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript and TypeScript
• Deep expertise with React (or Svelte)
• Significant experience building custom data visualizations with D3.js
• Experience with SVG, Canvas, and WebGL
• Strong understanding of responsive design and modern UI development practices
• Ability to translate complex datasets into engaging user experiences
• Experience building production-grade applications for external users
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Nice to Have

• Experience creating editorial-style / data storytelling experiences similar to Polygraph, The Pudding, Pitch Interactive

Contract & Location

• 6-month contract with potential extension and conversion to full-time based on performance and business needs
• Remote or hybrid, with a strong preference for candidates based in New York
