About the role
Role Overview
Principal Frontend Engineer responsible for defining and maintaining the frontend architecture of a TypeScript/React application. You will lead technical standards and scalable UI patterns for complex, performance-critical geospatial workflows (using Cesium), while mentoring engineers and contributing directly to production code.
Responsibilities
- Define and implement frontend architecture and technical standards for the TypeScript/React app
- Design and develop scalable UI patterns for geospatial workflows using Cesium
- Establish best practices for:
- state management
- component architecture
- performance optimization
- testing
- maintainability
- Partner with engineering leadership to plan, prioritize, and deliver high-impact product features
- Mentor engineers via code reviews, architecture discussions, and hands-on guidance
- Drive frontend execution by writing production-quality code
- Ensure frontend solutions are robust, efficient, and aligned with product goals
- Stay current with emerging frontend technologies and industry best practices
Qualifications
- 8+ years building and scaling frontend systems
- Deep expertise in React and TypeScript
- Strong architectural judgment balancing speed and long-term maintainability
- Track record leading complex, interactive, data-heavy UI projects where performance is critical
- Experience with design systems/component libraries (preferably MUI)
- Effective in fast-paced environments with minimal process overhead
- Excellent communication skills to align the team on technical patterns and decisions
- Eligibility to obtain/maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance

- Prior experience working with Cesium or similarly complex geospatial UI workflows
