Frontend Engineer (Js, CSS)

Role Overview

Join the Engineering & Technical Services team as a Drupal Frontend Engineer (Consultant), supporting a federal healthcare platform used by ~11M monthly users. You’ll work with cross-functional Agile teams to architect, develop, and maintain modern, high-performance Drupal frontend experiences.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement modular, component-based design systems in Drupal themes using Storybook and Single Directory Components (SDC)
• Architect and write secure, high-performance JavaScript following team coding standards
• Ensure experiences meet WCAG accessibility requirements
• Develop and maintain PostCSS workflows and modern styling practices within Drupal theme architecture
• Integrate Web Components into Drupal themes
• Create and execute integration and end-to-end tests (e.g., Cypress) for reliability, performance, and regression coverage
• Use debugging tools for JavaScript and PHP to improve development speed and quality
• Support Drupal configuration management and basic module development

Requirements

• 5+ years professional web development experience
• Demonstrated Drupal 10 and/or Drupal 11 frontend development experience
• Strong knowledge of modern Drupal frontend architectures, including SDC
• Proficiency integrating Web Components into Drupal themes
• Deep understanding of WCAG and accessibility best practices
• Experience with PostCSS and modern styling workflows
• Experience modifying React-based applications (or similar frameworks) and integrating into Drupal
• Ability to support backend tasks like Drupal configuration management and module development
• Cypress (or equivalent) for end-to-end testing
• Strong Git experience (branching, forks, conflict resolution)
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and ceremonies
• Drupal.org username required
• Ability to obtain and maintain federal Public Trust clearance

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience spanning broader lifecycle domains such as data engineering, infrastructure automation, and AI/ML integration (may be part of the role scope)
