About the role

Role Overview

Staff Frontend Engineer at Fanfix. Own and build complex, scalable frontend features for high-performance web applications that drive engagement between creators and fans. Work closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers, and help shape architectural decisions while continuously improving the frontend tech stack.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop complex, scalable frontend features in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Own critical frontend areas and ensure alignment with business goals, plus performance and scalability standards
  • Collaborate with PMs, designers, and backend engineers to deliver seamless features
  • Contribute to technical discussions, guide junior engineers, and support architectural decisions
  • Ensure code quality and maintainability through robust testing and documentation

Requirements

  • Next.js + React: expert-level experience with App Router, Server Components, and SSR/SSG patterns, plus Next.js optimization techniques
  • TypeScript (5+) for type-safe, maintainable development
  • Vitest + Testing Library for unit and integration testing
  • GraphQL + Apollo Client including type-safe queries/mutations, cache management, and use of GraphQL Code Generator
  • Tailwind CSS and utility-first styling
  • State management experience with Zustand and Redux Toolkit (choose based on complexity/use case)
  • Monorepo architecture experience using pnpm workspaces and Turbo (or similar: Nx/Lerna)
  • Node.js / server-side Next.js concepts: API routes, server components, server actions, and middleware
  • Strong attention to detail across code, testing, and documentation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with multiple UI libraries and headless component patterns (e.g., Material-UI, Ant Design, HeroUI, Radix UI)
  • Authentication experience with NextAuth (OAuth flows and session handling)
