About the role
Role overview
You will join VOLTA’s platform engineering team to build and extend the user-facing web console and related frontend experiences. Users are engineers running large training and inference workloads, so correctness of cluster state, fast and predictable workflows, and accurate error handling are critical.
Responsibilities
- Build and extend the VOLTA web console (e.g., capacity/cluster views, provisioning workflows, quota & usage, access management, operational visibility)
- Work from UX designs while providing technical feedback on feasibility, performance, and edge cases before designs are finalized
- Collaborate with platform engineers on API integration and contribute to the API integration layer as part of the team
- Act as the consumer voice on API design (identify awkward endpoint shapes, missing states, unclear errors early)
- Own the frontend codebase end-to-end:
- component structure, state management, styling
- accessibility, testing, and frontend performance
- Handle complex UI states correctly:
- partial data, long-running provisioning, streaming telemetry
- permission-scoped views and multi-tenant boundaries (avoid security issues)
- Contribute to frontend tooling, build pipelines, and quality standards
- including generated API clients driven from a schema
- Support developer-facing surfaces that overlap with your work:
- documentation examples and consistent error messaging across console + API
- Participate in code review, technical design discussions, and cross-team collaboration in an Agile environment (Kanban or Scrum)
- Support production releases, including triaging customer-reported issues against the console
Requirements
- 3–5 years of professional frontend development experience
- Strong proficiency in modern TypeScript, plus solid HTML and CSS fundamentals
- Deep experience with at least one modern component framework (e.g., React, Vue, Angular, or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of component design, state management, and frontend performance for asynchronous and frequently changing data
- Comfortable consuming REST or GraphQL APIs and collaborating with backend engineers on integration
- Ability to work from UX designs (and push back when designs won’t hold up with real data)
- Solid engineering fundamentals: clean code, testing, version control, code review, and CI/CD
- Comfort working in a technical domain; interest in GPU clusters (infrastructure experience not required)
Nice to have
- Fluency with AI-assisted development (agentic CLI tools, IDE assistants, orchestrating multiple coding agents via MCP/tools/APIs)
- Experience building developer-facing/technical UIs (cloud consoles, dashboards, admin panels, observability)
- Experience with data-dense interfaces (large tables, time series visualization, etc.)
About VOLTA
VOLTA builds and operates large-scale GPU compute infrastructure for AI workloads. The role focuses on the user-facing parts of their platform, including a web console, customer-facing APIs, and infrastructure-as-code interfaces used to consume capacity programmatically.
