Role Overview

Frontend Developer Lead II (Software Engineering)

UST is looking for a Frontend Developer to design, build, and maintain high-quality React applications using modern patterns and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain reusable, well-typed UI components with Material UI (MUI) v5–v7
• Implement robust state management using Redux Toolkit
• Develop rich, interactive UI features using MUI X Pro (e.g., data grids, charts, date pickers)
• Improve performance using code splitting, memoization, and profiling
• Implement advanced client-side routing with React Router v6/v7 (nested routes, lazy loading, route guards)
• Ensure accessibility best practices (e.g., WCAG, ARIA, keyboard navigation)

Requirements

• React 19+: functional components, hooks, context, and performance optimization
• TypeScript 5.x: strong typing, generics, utility types, discriminated unions
• Redux Toolkit: store design, slices, and typed hooks
• Axios: interceptors and request/response error handling
• Material UI (MUI) v5–v7: theming, customization, sx, overrides, DataGrid, DatePickers, Charts
• React Router v6/v7: nested routing, route guards, lazy loading

Nice-to-haves / Secondary Skills

• Webpack 5 (bundle optimization) and Babel (tree shaking/polyfills)
• Jest + React Testing Library for unit and integration testing
• Performance tooling: Webpack Bundle Analyzer, React DevTools Profiler, Lighthouse CI
• CI/CD: GitLab CI/CD or similar
• TipTap (rich text), MapLibre GL (maps/geospatial), TanStack React Query (caching, invalidation)

Compensation & Benefits

• Remote-US compensation range: $82,000–$123,000 (annual)
• Full-time benefits including paid vacation/sick leave/holidays, 401(k) with employer match, and medical/dental/vision coverage (US-based), plus other insurance and flexible spending options.
