Front End Developer (Marketing)

Location: Fully remote (United States)
Reports to: Manager, Digital Experience / Web Services

Role Overview

Work within Optimizely (Episerver) Digital Experience Platform to modernize and continuously enhance the District’s public-facing digital experience. You’ll build responsive, accessible, secure, and scalable web solutions in partnership with CPS technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain custom templates, components, and themeable blocks in Optimizely.
• Build responsive UIs using React, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, SASS, Webpack.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, refactor, and optimize existing applications for performance, accessibility, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with UX, business analysts, content authors, and developers to turn business requirements into technical solutions.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (planning, sprints, code reviews) and release management using Azure DevOps.
• Implement CI/CD best practices and support automated testing.
• Ensure compliance with WCAG accessibility, security, CPS coding standards, and enterprise architecture guidelines.
• Create technical documentation and perform knowledge transfer; provide front-end best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years professional front-end development experience.
• Experience with Optimizely/Episerver Digital Experience Platform.
• Strong skills in React, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, SASS, Azure, Azure DevOps.
• Working knowledge of C#, ASP.NET MVC (Razor), SQL Server, and Continuous Integration/automated testing.
• Strong analytical/debugging, communication, and documentation skills.
• Independent working style while collaborating within Agile teams.
• Experience with SEO, WCAG 2.2 accessibility, and performance tuning.
• Experience integrating analytics and digital marketing technologies.
• Experience mentoring developers and contributing to application architecture.
