Frontend Developer

Role Overview

Avochato is seeking a Frontend Developer (remote, full-time) to build and enhance responsive web user interfaces for a real-time, AI-enabled messaging product used by customers daily.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, responsive user interfaces that improve the customer experience.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver seamless, scalable features.
• Implement and maintain frontend state management solutions for stability and performance.
• Write and maintain frontend tests to ensure code quality and prevent regressions.
• Debug and resolve complex frontend issues, optimizing for speed and responsiveness across devices.
• Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and uphold frontend best practices.
• Stay current with emerging frontend trends and tools to continuously improve the development process.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to the growth of the frontend engineering team.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional experience building with React in production.
• Extensive TypeScript experience.
• Strong proficiency with React state management (e.g., Redux, Zustand, or similar).
• Hands-on experience writing frontend tests using Jest, Vitest, Testing Library, or equivalent.
• Experience with WebSockets for real-time communication.
• Familiarity with build tools such as Webpack and/or Vite.
• Proficiency working with RESTful APIs and asynchronous data fetching patterns.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a Rails-backed environment.
• Knowledge of AWS (e.g., S3, CloudFront).
• Understanding of web accessibility standards such as WCAG.
