About the role
Role Overview
Mid–Senior Frontend Developer (Remote)
Join a team building a web-GIS platform that powers automated planning and visualization for energy, telecommunication, and transportation infrastructure. You will develop scalable front-end components and collaborate with the front-end lead and cross-functional teams to deliver new features and seamless backend integration.
Responsibilities
- Implement new UI features and enhancements to improve user experience and functionality
- Migrate legacy React class components to modern functional components using hooks
- Refactor complex components to improve performance, maintainability, and clarity
- Integrate frontend components with backend services (Django REST APIs)
- Handle authentication and error states in the UI
- Debug and resolve issues across the codebase, including production
- Participate in code reviews and contribute constructive feedback
- Maintain and contribute documentation for features, workflows, and architectural patterns
- Support development of geospatial features using mapping libraries and geospatial data formats
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional experience with React (v16+)
- Strong modern JavaScript/ES6+ fundamentals (async/await, promises, modules, array methods)
- Experience with React hooks (functional components) and migrating from class components
- Ability to design and maintain custom hooks for reusable logic
- Proficiency with React Context API and useReducer for state management
- Linux development experience
- Git-based workflows (GitHub/GitLab) and collaboration tools (e.g., Slack/Teams)
- Comfortable with Agile development environments
- UI/responsive design experience with Material-UI (MUI v4) and Styled Components
- Integrating REST APIs using Axios (or similar)
- Knowledge of build/code-quality tooling (Create React App or Webpack, ESLint, Prettier)
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and proactive learning/collaboration
Nice-to-haves
- GIS/mapping library experience: OpenLayers and/or Cesium
- Geospatial concepts and formats: GeoJSON, Shapefiles, WMS/WFS
- Authentication flows and internationalization (i18n) frameworks
- Use of Django REST APIs in practice
