Frontend Developer

Role Overview

Build and maintain responsive, interactive web applications for a public-facing content site in a dynamic, agile environment. You’ll collaborate with a team to create reusable UI components, improve performance, and ensure accessibility standards are met.

Responsibilities

• Develop responsive, interactive web applications using React and Next.js with modern JavaScript (ES6+)
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code aligned with established standards and best practices
• Optimize for speed and scalability (e.g., bundle optimization, lazy loading, code splitting)
• Ensure consistent functionality and appearance across browsers and devices
• Build reusable, modular UI components and contribute to a component library
• Create and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
• Ensure compliance with accessibility requirements (WCAG/ADA) so all users can use the site
• Manage source control with Git (branching, PRs, code reviews)
• Identify and fix front-end bugs and performance bottlenecks
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback/mentorship
• Attend and contribute to agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives)
• Stay current with evolving front-end technologies and industry best practices

Required Skills / Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of front-end development with strong JavaScript fundamentals
• Proficiency with React, HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
• Experience with Next.js and server-side rendering concepts
• Strong knowledge of responsive design and CSS frameworks (with Tailwind CSS preferred)
• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows
• Understanding of web performance optimization and browser developer tools
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills

• CSS preprocessors or CSS-in-JS (e.g., Sass, Less)
• Headless CMS integration and JAMstack
• SEO fundamentals and implementation

• Portfolio demonstrating code quality, performance, and UX
