About the role

Role Overview

Full-time remote Front-End Software Engineer at Expanding Minds. You will design, build, and maintain user-facing features for the school platform, serving school administrators, prospective families, and multi-school network operators.

Responsibilities

Build responsive, accessible, and performant UI experiences across devices.
Develop fast, SEO-friendly pages using Next.js rendering strategies (SSR, SSG/ISR, App Router).
Translate product and design requirements into reusable React components.
Extend the Tailwind CSS-based design system and component library.
Integrate the front end with APIs and back-end services.
Write clean, strongly typed, testable code.
Perform code reviews, troubleshoot UI bugs, and improve performance, accessibility, and user experience.
Collaborate with product/design/back-end engineers; participate in agile ceremonies.
Provide technical input on feature planning and maintain front-end architecture documentation and best practices.

Requirements

Strong proficiency with React and Next.js (hooks, component composition, routing, Next.js rendering/data fetching strategies).
Expert-level TypeScript for modular, maintainable front-end code.
Hands-on experience building responsive and accessible UIs with Tailwind CSS.
Solid knowledge of semantic HTML5, modern CSS, and WCAG accessibility.
Experience designing/extending component libraries and design systems in a React/Tailwind environment.
Strong CS fundamentals (algorithms, data structures) and software practices including Git.
Bachelor’s degree in CS/Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
Ability to work independently remotely, communicate clearly, and manage priorities.
