About the role

Role Overview

Join WEX’s NAM Experiences team as a Front-End Software Development Engineer 2. This is a remote role, with a requirement that candidates reside within 30 miles of one of these locations: Boston, MA; San Francisco Bay Area, CA; Dallas, TX; Seattle, WA; or Portland, ME.

You’ll build intuitive, high-performance web applications with strong front-end expertise and full-stack exposure, integrating with backend services that support WEX’s fleet management platforms.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance web applications
Build and enhance shared component libraries and design-system assets used across multiple apps
Collaborate with senior engineers to co-develop system designs and maintain cross-team alignment
Write automated tests including unit, integration, end-to-end, concurrency, and performance testing
Identify bottlenecks and technical debt to improve scalability and stability
Use automation for testing, monitoring, auto-scaling, and continuous deployment
Partner with Product, Design, and UX to deliver user-centric, scalable solutions
Participate in code reviews, uphold engineering best practices, and contribute to quality standards
Troubleshoot production issues, implement fixes, and document root causes
Maintain documentation (design docs, run books, change management records)
Provide live-site support and support continuous improvement and rapid incident resolution

Requirements

B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
2–5 years of professional software engineering experience
Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and OOP design
Proficiency with modern front-end frameworks: Angular (preferred) or React
TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, SASS
Experience integrating front-end apps with RESTful or GraphQL APIs
Knowledge of web security principles: authentication, authorization, and data protection
Familiarity with Git, automated testing frameworks, and CI/CD workflows
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

Nice-to-Haves

Experience leveraging automation and AI-driven engineering solutions to improve development processes
Demonstrated focus on performance testing and operational excellence (monitoring/incident resolution)
