About the role
Role Overview
Slicedbread is hiring a full-time Front End Shopify Web Developer for the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. You’ll build robust, complex Shopify/Shopify Plus storefronts and features, applying strong Shopify-specific development skills and a creative, problem-solving approach.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Shopify and Shopify Plus storefronts and features
- Build complex UI/UX implementations using Shopify Sections and Blocks and related JSON structures
- Use and integrate Shopify public APIs
- Implement front-end functionality using Shopify-supported web technologies
- Support build/deployment workflows (staging environments, build tools, version control)
- Work with existing design assets (e.g., extract assets from PSD/XD/AI) and translate them into production-ready builds
Requirements (MUST)
- 5+ years of work experience developing in Shopify / Shopify Plus (with portfolio examples)
- Demonstrated experience with Shopify Liquid (portfolio required)
- Demonstrated experience using Shopify-compatible front-end languages:
- HTML, CSS/SASS, JavaScript/jQuery
- Deep understanding of Shopify Sections and Blocks and how they relate to JSON
- Deep understanding of Shopify’s various public APIs
- Proficiency with:
- Bootstrap and React
- Build tools such as Gulp/Grunt and ThemeKit
- Git via command line
- Asset extraction from PSD, XD, AI files
Nice to Have
- Digital marketing/advertising familiarity and understanding how development supports marketing goals
- Experience with additional web languages such as PHP or Ruby
- Familiarity with other platforms (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, Magento, BigCommerce, Laravel)
- Server and infrastructure familiarity (e.g., Apache, Nginx), DNS/domain management
- Experience with Agile and Waterfall environments
- Familiarity with ADA compliance and accessible web builds
- Experience with server administration tasks (cache/config, load balancing, CDNs)
- Familiarity with AWS and Media Temple
